Otey Construction’s newest home will earn the distinguished Energy Star recognition upon its completion. The home, in Northern Point at Lake Jeanette, is being built according to strict guidelines in order to qualify for the distinction.
In order to earn the Energy Star, homes must meet guidelines for efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ensuring they will be 20 to 30% more efficient than standard homes. Third-party verification of the guidelines by a Home Energy Rater is required and raters must work closely with the builder throughout the construction process. Homes meet the guidelines through installation of Energy Star qualified appliances, efficient heating and cooling systems, effective insulation systems and other energy-efficient advancements.
Otey’s newest home will also be equipped with TechShield. This radiant barrier sheathing lowers energy costs by blocking radiant heat in the roof from entering the attic, thereby keeping the home cooler.

Features of this two story craftsman cottage home will include master suite with large walk-in closet, bonus room, walk-in pantry, and a great room with vaulted ceilings.
